Well, well, well...August is here which means the summer of 2010 is fading away. Luckily, there have been enough announcements, shake-ups, break-ups and overtop launches to keep the design and fashion conscious individual neck deep during the 2010 Fall and 2011 Winter months. Let's begin...
The McQueen brand and fashion house shall remain, but the future will hold numerous challenges for whoever is appointed the head of this signature house. For now the late designer's stylized work and obsessive attention to detail will still be present in the season's line.
Another English fashion house making waves within the men's realm is Burberry. The return of modernized classic fashion lines and stylized tailoring has rejuvenated the admiration and near cult status this fashion house was built upon.
In keeping with the UK/English theme, the 1970's and 80s rock/punk fashion house Farah has released a very clean and borderline hipster lineup under their Vintage Clothing label. The tremendous amount of growth between their 2009 and 2010 Autumn/Winter looks is captivation and the future of this design house is appealing.
For the individual who finds their vintage collection a little out of their style range Farah also offers Mainline Collection, an additional fashion line aimed at the classic gentleman with a touch of effortless flare. Whatever the sensibilities, Farah has effortless fashion covered.
The Parisian fashion house
Noir Basic has emerged this year with a series of strong pieces. Plus, due to the boutique's size, European location, unique styling these pieces are rarely seen stateside which means one has the opportunity to purchase a seemingly individualized item. Definitely makes layering more fun.
Another small fashion house making noise this season is Nice Collective. The fashion brand that emerged from San Francisco in 1997 and maintained their west coast roots continues to thrive. Since embarking upon a complete men's fashion line the influence of military prowess has been woven into nearly all of the brand's pieces of edginess.
The notorious Italian luxury house, Bottega Veneta, has continued to expand upon their 2001 about-face and generate a men's line founded in very clean, subtle craftsmanship with touches of edgy sophistication. The impact seems to be garnering an overall appeal and notoriety for the fashion house within a much younger, non-traditional clientele base.
Lastly, the love and admiration for Gucci seems to be as consistent as the ocean's waves but these past few seasons have produced something extraordinary. The overall aesthetic of Italian effortless fashion and easy inclusion into one's daily life leapt from the sketchbook, the cutting room floor, the showroom floor and most importantly the store's display racks.
