An Evening With The Sartorialist

For those who follow the blog and writings of Scott Schuman, "The Sartorialist", hopefully you have been in attendance at his recent book signings in a tour across America. Last week I saw him at a Dallas Barnes and Noble. After a Q&A session, he graciously spoke with readers and followers of his work.

My friend Celeste's Book Signed by Scott Schuman
"The Sartorialist"

Schuman has been involved in the fashion industry for over 15 years. After 9/11 he closed his showroom, where he conducted sales and press business, to focus on photography. Hoping to blend his love of both fashion and photography, he wanted to share images of what he considers what "really cool" people are wearing with how designers see them.

His blog The Sartorialist has grown immensely as Schuman now writes for style.com and GQ. As his work has become increasingly popular, he has published an anthology of his favorite shots. I suggest flagging your favorites as well, this is definately a page turner.

Check out the image in his post: On the Street...Commerce St., Dallas

A Memphis Wedding

This past weekend, I had the honor to be in the bridal party of one of my best friends, Megan's wedding! It was a fabulous fall affair with pumpkins, fresh sunflowers, tablescapes of mason jar votives, and great memories.

The Reception

The reception took place at Memphis Water Works. A unexpected, yet genius, venue! Garden water fountains, door shutters, and massive planters were on every part of the walkway. For dinner there was a Memphis barbecue + spuds and sweet potato bar. To honor the grooms Georgia up-bringing, his grooms cake, was a pound cake with drizzled peaches.

The Medders and special guest played great tunes.
Check out their new album available now!
Featured Covers:
"Subterranean Homesick Blues"-Bob Dylan
"Shakedown on 9th Street"-Ryan Adams

The Baby Shower: Nest Represents!

Many of you may have read last week's post about the hostess gifts for my upcoming baby shower... Well, the shower was amazing and the hostess gifts were a hit! I thought I'd share the shower with you, as well.

We had a State Fair theme, complete with a football toss and a photobooth. My dear friend and Interior Design consultant to Nest Interior Design, Carolina Gentry, was the driving force behind the shower... along with the help of her lovely fellow hostesses: my mom, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, and friend of my mother's.

The Nest team represented at the shower, big time, with the exception of Donald who was working hard at the store running our greatly successful 10.10 event! But, don't worry... he made up for it!

Heather Wiese-Alexander & Scott Alexander, owners of Nest, joined us and apparently so did their alter-egos! Heather & Scott were lovely enough to get me the tote bag from Nest I've been pining over for the past year: the Don Carney Beetle Bag - It was of course filled with everything baby!

Laura Busby, nestdallas.com guru, also stopped by for a bit... but, was quite shy and didn't jump into the photobooth before leaving - Surprising, considering her star performance at the photoshoot for our blog!

You may remember Lauren Bryan-Knight, who is our foreign relations liaison and former blogger for Nest! She and her husband, Tyler, graced us with their presence... And, I must say, Lauren's girly left-handed toss put the guys to shame. Yes - she made it in the target!

And, last but not least... our new buyer and store manager, Donald, couldn't make the shower because he was busy at our Nest 10.10 event. But, as I said earlier, he made up for it in a BIG way! He got me the Kartell Lou Lou Ghost Chair in yellow that I have been dying to add to the nursery. Our gift guru really does know his stuff!

Here are some more fun photobooth pictures from the shower... And, stay tuned... when it's done, the nursery is up for blogging next!
