The Perfect Handbag: Arza Designs

I came across Arza Designs when I was in New York a few months back. Arza had a booth at the Young Designers Market and was naturally drawing a crowd with her great hand bags and accessories. I grabbed the Hands Free Bracelet Clutch and the Hand Free Bracelet Wallet. These brilliant totes allow you to slip your valuables in the surprisingly roomy pocket and keep close to you all night long. It's perfect for an evening out. I think I stood at the booth for about 20 minutes just attempting to pick out a color. I love it all and I want the whole collection!

I'm coming for this one next. How Sweet!

Kartell: Honeycomb + Ero|s|

The Louis Ghost and Victoria Ghost chairs are extremely popular seating choices for the Kartell. To state the obvious they are classic, sleek, and modern. However, lets take the time to shine some light on two other great options:

The Honeycomb:
I have this completely random interest in the Honeycomb that I can't explain. It could be a combination of the pattern of the seat, the sleek aluminum folding base, and the lightness of the color selection. Regardless, I am completely drawn in. What a great change and modern twist to the office chair!

ERO|S|:
Phillipe Starck is brilliant at what he does. I love the retro vibe of the egg shaped seat and its polished appearance. Available in transparent or matte colors and three types of bases, its functionality can work virtually in any room.

If you like what you see or are interested in other Kartell products. Make sure to check out Kartell's special offer. For a limited time only these, and other great pieces, are 15% OFF at nestdallas.com. Hurry before its too late!

Harry Allen & the DuPont Coran Design Studio

I came across an article of this new studio on Apartment Therapy. In hopes to create a buzz and business, DuPont has opened studios in Milan, New York, and now Philadelphia to showcase Corian, a 42-year-old product primarily known for its use in countertops. DuPont wants to show designers and architects how corian can be used as a design material. The space will be showcased as a modern art gallery where architects, designers, and specialty retailers can expand their understanding of Corian as a multi-dimensional design material.

DuPont has partnered with C.H. Briggs and Co. for the Philadelphia studio. They chose this city behind popular Milan and NYC locations since Philadelphia has its own professional community known for pushing boundaries on innovative and sustainable building and interior design.

Corian, an acrylic polymer, has been incorporated into items such as ceiling lighting, textured exterior panels, and window screens. Its impressive conference table, was excuted from 100 pieces of coran that were heated until it became pliable and formed around a wooden base. This idea was a concept of MacLaren Fabrication Inc and NY interior Designer Harry Allen.

DIY Art: Japanese Paper

If you are looking for a cost efficient way to incorporate wall art into your room, consider a DIY project using Japanese paper. All of these patterns are silk screened onto rice paper. I'm considering chopping it down to use in frames or using the papers as background on a cork board. I think it would be a cute way to thumb tack notes and pictures. Plus they are only $8-16 depending on the size of the sheet.

Below are some of my favorites (its near impossible to nail down what you want). Hopefully the other image is what will turn out with my lined, framed cork board.

A Real Shot Of Life

Take notice of these shot glasses created for Charles & Marie by AMT. It's like a really cool chemistry experiment presentation for your liquid courage. As our martini and champagne versions of the inside out collection are now faded memories in our store, I feel like the shot glasses were overlooked. I think they deserve their 15 minutes. And you know what else, it's a great gift.

It's Raining It's Pouring...Literally

Who would have thought yesterday, as the storm clouds were rolling , in that we were in store for this amazing thunder and lighting storm that has hit Texas and many other places across the country. Our store front curb is almost no-longer visible as it is about 4 inches deep in water. It reminds me of Surfers Bridge in Munich. I honestly think I could surf through the Plaza.

However, as the Snider Plaza Sidewalk Sale has been obviously postponed for the sidewalk today, take this opportunity to save:

Get BAKED in NYC

As you, dear reader, might have noticed by now: when I travel- I eat! Being fresh from a romp through New York for the Stationery Show, I decided the best way to show what kind of time we had, would be depicted showing you what we ate!

Acting as an amateur food critic, come on a tour of the bakeries of our most recent trip.

Grant, Jonthan, and Chris with their cupcakes du jour!

Magnolia is THE cupcake capital of NY. The lines are omnipresent, and the bakery is bustling late into the night (they are open until 11). Red Velvet Review: The cake was moist, the cream cheese icing was stacked high- just like I like it. The only disappointment: the top of the cake was a little too chewy.

Victoria & myself with the classics- chocolate, vanilla, and a glass of milk!

This is my friend Victoria, and this is us in her favorite bakery, sugar Sweet sunshine. These cupcakes are cheap ($1.5o!), the staff is friendly, and the setting is quaint. Areas of improvement on the eats: icing is a bit remniscent of a grocery store.

This little bakery is growing on me in a big way (quite literally, too!). Stop in for a moment of pure bliss the Chelsea store, or go by on June 20th to the new location in Tribeca!

The Red Velvet Cake - yummy on the icing, dry on the cake

Heather's Cake: Vanilla with sprinkles. Now THIS was having your cake & eating it, too. Yum!
Simply delicious.

Oh look- it's Don Carney from Patch NYC. He is a sweet friend, and such the gentleman!

In the spirit of saving the best for last I am letting Heather post about
THE BEST CUPCAKES in NYC.

Bell'Invito's New Paper Trail

Bell'Invito debuted their newest designs for the signature and studio boxed sets, along with selection books at this year's National Stationery Show in New York. From what I have heard, it was an absolute blast. They have already generated buzz with the new zodiac collection with art from Don Carney. Judging by the booth design, I'm sure they attracted many passer-bys as well.

Summer Lifestyle: Go Nude for Under $100!

I was completely inspired for this post by my new lip candy! Susan Posnick cosmetics recently launched a new lipstick line, called ColorEssential, and they have some delicious new shades that are all named after the hottest travel spots. My new favorite shade, Dubai, is the perfect nude for summer... Well, really any time of the year... but, just perfect for summer! Oh, did I mention that this lipstick is absolutely wonderful for travel??!! At only $17 a pop, not only is the casing mirrored with a gunmetal finish, for easy application, but the cap has a magnetic closure that's great for making sure the top doesn't come off in your cosmetic bag or purse. Aside from the ease of the packaging and the perfect shades for any complexion, this lipstick tastes good, too! I mean, can they do any wrong?? Give it a try! You'll love it!

Some other hot neutrals at Nest under $100 for your summer lifestyle...
